JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) Choirul Anam said that there were high school children aged 16 or 17 who were also detained in a human cage in the house of the inactive Langkat Regent, Terbit Plan Warin-angin.
Anam said the reason the child was detained was because he skipped school and hit the gas when he passed Terbit.
“At the end of the (investigation) process we found this, but we haven’t studied this child yet. So we asked one part of the police to make recommendations to explore this information,” said Anam at a virtual press conference, Wednesday (2/3/2022).
Currently, the child is working in Terbit’s palm oil mill.
But his party has not yet explored the number of high school children who were arrested and brought to this place.
“What is certain is that this child is indeed employed in a factory. We haven’t really explored the specifics, because (it was found) in the final process,” he said.
Then Komnas HAM will ask the police to deepen the initial findings.
“We will specifically recommend to the police to investigate,” he said.
Meanwhile, Komnas HAM presented several findings from its investigation into human prisons in Langkat.
One of them is the increase in the number of people who died previously stated that only 3 people increased to 6 people.
Komnas HAM also stated that there had been violence and torture against human prisoners.
It is suspected that there were 19 perpetrators of the torture consisting of members of mass organizations (ormas), TNI/Polri to Terbit’s family members.
