A 14-year-old teenager, whose vital prognosis is engaged, was wounded by bullets on Tuesday evening August 22 in a district in the south of Marseille, learned AFP from a police source and from the emergency services, confirming information from BFM Marseille .

The facts occurred around 9:00 p.m. around Cayolle, a city located in the south of Marseille, according to these sources. The victim, hit by gunfire, was conscious when help arrived, the latter told AFP, adding that the vital prognosis of the minor was engaged. The judicial police have been seized of the investigation, according to a police source.

Drug trafficking

On August 13, a 25-year-old man, known to the police and justice for acts related to drug trafficking, was shot dead in the city of Cayolle. France’s second-largest city has been the scene of numerous homicides in recent weeks amid a power struggle between rival gangs for control of the lucrative drug trade. Since the beginning of the year, more than thirty people have lost their lives in this context.

Other cities in the south-east of France, like Avignon or Nîmes, where a ten-year-old child, collateral victim of a shooting probably linked to drug trafficking, was shot dead on Monday evening, are not spared from this violence.
