It can’t be easy getting an organ transplant, especially for a kidney. The wait is long in hospitals and you may still not achieve that long-awaited operation. For this reason, when it is necessary, it is the same loved ones or close friends who are willing to donate their organs in order to save his life.
In this opportunity Roman McCormicka 15-year-old student at the Whitmer School, in Toledo, Ohio, USAhe urgently needed a kidney transplant, since he suffers from branchiotorenal syndrome or BORa disease which weakens the development of tissues and can have consequences in the formation of the kidneys and ears.

The student commented that with his illness his life has radically changed and he is subject to many limitations to take care of his health.
“I can’t eat food that most normal children can eat. I can’t be more [físicamente] active because my kidneys are slowing down my physical activity,” Roman told Good Morning America.
Over time, Roman’s health began to worsen into stage 4 kidney disease and he would need to go on constant dialysis.

His call for help paid off.
Roman along with his family sought help and one was the dissemination of his case when a local news article told him his story with The Monroe News en MonroeMichigan and said information was also passed through various news outlets.
The efforts of few appeared, so McCarthy, Roman’s mathematics teacher, listened to his case and did not hesitate to help him as his organ donor. He contacted the family and in a couple of days tests were done to see if they were compatible for an organ transplant.
“The next day, or maybe a day after that, I went and got tested. They matched us up there and then I kept going back to the hospital and doing all the tests you have to do, and I kept coming back healthy, and it was proven that I’m compatible with it”, commented the professor.
It is important to specify that in order for an organ transplant to be carried out, it must mainly have the compatibility of the same blood type, among other medical conditions.
After going through the evaluations, all that remains is to wait for the donation surgeries to be performed on July 19 at the University Hospital of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
