A 17-year-old boy was stabbed in the leg with a knife in the New York subway late Friday night for asking other teens to turn down the music, police said.

The teen was on a northbound R Line train entering the Union Street station in Brooklyn around 9:30 p.m. when he asked three other teens to turn the volume down, police said.
“They took offense,” a police spokesman said. “He’s stabbed in the leg.”
The teens fled the train after the attack. The 17-year-old who was stabbed in the thigh was taken to Methodist Hospital in stable condition. Stabbings in New York have skyrocketed in recent months due to the increase in violence in the city, a product of the mental crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic, and drug use due to fentanyl trafficking.
