Teenager shot inside car in New York in broad daylight

A 16-year-old girl was shot while sitting in a car on Long Island (NY) after a fight between two groups of teenagers, the police said.

The two groups got into a physical altercation on Central Islip’s Anne Lane around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. After the brawl was over, they split up and left in two vehicles. The shooting happened five minutes later.

The 16-year-old, who was in one of the groups, was sitting in the back seat of a Toyota Camry when she was shot in the shoulder near the intersection of Oakland Avenue and Evergreen Avenue, police said. She was hospitalized in stable condition.

Police had not announced any arrests in the shooting as detectives continued to investigate, he said. Pix11.

In a similar case, hours later, Wednesday night a driver was also shot dead inside a car in NYC, while traveling through the Upper Manhattan entrance to the Washington Bridge, en route to New Jersey. The vehicle ended up crashing.
