Teenager Shot Dead in Bronx and Man Shot in Head in Midtown Manhattan Building

A 17-year-old teenager was shot dead yesterday on a Bronx street in broad daylight and hours later another young man was shot in the head inside a historic building that houses recording studios in Midtown Manhattan.

The first shooting occurred near 762 Cauldwell Ave. in Melrose around 4:15 p.m. Thursday, according to the NYPD. The teenager received shot in the neck and was later pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital. The incident occurred in the middle of a fight between minors near PS 157 schoolhe detailed ABC News.

The unidentified victim had previous arrests and was described by police sources as the intended target of the shooting, according to New York Post.

Hours later, in a separate incident, a 26-year-old man was shot in the head this morning. in a midtown Manhattan building that houses famous music studios and rehearsal spaces.

The violence broke out shortly after 12:40 a.m. Friday on the 11th floor of the Music Building at 584 8th Avenue. The unidentified victim lives in the Bronx and miraculously survived, but remains in critical condition at Bellevue Hospital, NYPD said. It was not immediately clear if he was working in one of the studios or rehearsal spaces for which that building is known. The police are looking for four male suspects who fled on foot.

So far this year, until February 25, 44 people citywide were victims of homicides, a 27% drop from the same period last year, when there were 60 cases, according to NYPD statistics. Shootings have decreased in 2024 with 109 incidents as of February 25 compared to 159 in the same period in 2023.
