Cham, city.Sending nude photos online is not a good idea, especially not to strangers uninvited – police and internet experts have been warning of this for as long as social media has existed. A 17-year-old from the district of Cham felt it himself. He was blackmailed with his own night photos.
On Friday afternoon, the teenager had sent a nude photo of himself to someone he didn’t know via the Snapchat social media platform.
200 euros for the nude photo
As reported by the Cham Police Inspectorate, the 17-year-old received a demand for 200 euros from a previously unknown perpetrator a little later, otherwise the nude picture would be distributed on the Internet.
Shortly thereafter, the picture was then distributed via the online platform Instagram. The investigations into the crime of extortion were started.
Snapchat caution warning
The police expressly warns against the sending of nude pictures via any platform on the Internet, since there is no longer any control over who gets such pictures and the pictures are difficult to completely delete again after they have been distributed on the Internet.
