The Public Prosecution Service is going to prosecute a 16-year-old boy from Alkmaar for four assaults. He was arrested at the end of May for grabbing or hitting several women in the buttocks.
That happened between September 2020 and this spring. More than thirty women reported to the police during that period because they had been grabbed in the buttocks by a man on a bicycle, often while they were walking or running.
Fifteen women filed a complaint. After months of investigation, the Public Prosecution Service concludes that the teenager was involved in four assaults, writes NH News. He will soon have to answer to the juvenile judge for this.
It has not been established that the suspect had anything to do with the other incidents. These assaults may have been committed by someone else. Justice has dropped those cases, which means that no one will be prosecuted.
No other victims
The 16-year-old suspect turned himself in shortly after a broadcast of Investigation Requested with the police, along with his parents and lawyer. The program had broadcast camera images of the boy in the city center of Alkmaar, shortly after an assault on the Helderseweg.
Since the arrest of the Alkmaarder, no other victims of such an assault have come forward. “Of course we will remain alert and we will reassess the feasibility of a criminal investigation in the event of new incidents,” said a spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service.
