NEW JERSEY – A man was shot dead Monday afternoon in the town of East Orange in New Jersey, the Essex County District Attorney’s Homicide Task Force announced.
According to information provided by the Prosecutor’s Office, the fatal tragedy occurred in Via Lincoln and the investigation is in its early stages.
Witnesses pointed to our sister network NBC4 that the victim is a 16-year-old teenager and a student from a school near the scene. In addition, the shooting, which was located near a supermarket and several schools, would have taken place in the presence of other teenagers.
Witnesses added that friends and classmates tried to help.
So far, investigators have not released a possible suspect or reason for the shooting, which worries neighbors who shared. News 4 that this would be the second time a young man has been shot.
