A 17-year-old teenager with mental problems was arrested on suspicion of stabbing his older sister to death inside his home in Brooklyn (NYC).

NYPD officers rushed to the house on Beverley Road near E. 48th St. in the neighborhood East Flatbush after receiving a 911 call at 11:29 p.m. Sunday about an ongoing assault. Upon arrival they found young Shanelle Colquhoun stabbed in the neck and arms.

The 26-year-old victim used a wheelchair, which would have limited their defense, according to neighbors. Paramedics took her to Kings County Hospital, but were unable to save her. Her younger brother was arrested and taken to the 67th district police station as a suspect in the crime.

A police source said the unidentified teenager had been having emotional problems. Before the homicide, he had assaulted his mother, who called 911. But the teenager left before police arrived. The officers filed a report and left, as did his mother.

While on the street, the lady received a desperate call from her daughter. “He’s back!” Said the scared young woman, referring to her brother, according to Daily News.

“He is fighting with his mother all the time, so the police come every two or three days,” said neighbor Hossain Arif, 23. “I think he is mentally ill.”

All charges are mere accusations and the persons prosecuted are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
