Last Saturday, October 3rd, the social networks of the territorial nucleus of the Liberal Initiative of Braga were the stage for the second session of the conference cycle “What is Liberalism”, under the theme “Classic Liberalism: in power”, with the Rui Albuquerque and Vicente Ferreira participated.
After a first session with about 2,000 views, which included several people who joined this innovative knowledge sharing and exchange of ideas, where Vicente Ferreira went back to the times of the Glorious Revolution, the American and the French Revolution.
In addition, Portuguese constitutionalism was debated, making a retrospective of the inexistence of economic liberalism until today.
The next session is scheduled for October 17th, and will focus on the “History of Liberalism in Portugal” and will count on Prof. Dr. José Adelino Maltez and Mestre Inês Gregório as speakers.
About a Liberal Initiative
The INITIATIVA LIBERAL party is the liberal party of Portugal. The Liberal Initiative (IL) has its genesis in September 2016, with the creation of the Liberal Initiative Association. On November 26, 2017, the Founding Convention of the Liberal Initiative political party takes place, and its registration before the Constitutional Court is formalized the following month.
The Liberal Initiative first presented itself to elections in the European Elections in May 2019. In September, it ran for the Regional Elections of Madeira. In October, he participated in the Legislative Elections and elected a deputy to the Assembly of the Republic, João Cotrim Figueiredo.
