The body of a dead teenager was found early this morning along the dike between Monnickendam and Marken. The police suspect that the girl was hit and the perpetrator was killed.
“We are not ruling out any scenario. But the injury is such that the girl could not have done it to herself. In other words, someone else was involved,” said a police spokesman. “We are looking for that other person.”
The girl was found at around 4 a.m. this morning by police officers on the way to another report. She lay in the high grass along the dike to Marken, close to the exit to Zuiderwoude.
Brake tracks on the road
Because brake tracks have been discovered in the vicinity of the accident, the police believe that there has been a collision. No bicycle was found near the girl. “We suspect she was on foot,” said the spokesperson NH News. Not far from where the girl was found, there are brake tracks on the road. The law enforcement investigate whether they have anything to do with the incident.
The police do not want to say anything about the girl’s identity, except that it is a teenager.
