Two of the accused, a 20-year-old adult and a minor, were imprisoned, while two other minors are temporarily incarcerated before an adversarial debate on Wednesday, the Evry prosecutor said in a press release.
At the start of the evening, the prosecution indicated that the four young people were being prosecuted for having beaten the teenager Thursday afternoon in front of a college in Viry-Châtillon, south of Paris. Treated by the emergency room and hospitalized at Necker hospital in Paris, the teenager died late Friday afternoon as a result of his injuries.
According to the first elements of the investigation, cited by the prosecutor, the two brothers learned, several days earlier, that “their sister corresponded with people of her age on subjects relating to sexuality”.
Emotion in the country
“Fearing for her reputation and that of their family, they had ordered several boys to no longer have contact with her. They then learned that the victim boasted of being able to speak freely with their sister, having not yet had to under pressure from them,” added the prosecutor.
The two brothers, accompanied by two acquaintances, then went to the college on Thursday, where they “accidentally” came across their victim, according to their statements cited by the magistrate.
They allegedly asked the teenager to follow them into a building lobby to have “an explanation about the comments he made towards the young girl”. “The tone rose and blows were delivered, causing the victim to fall,” continues the prosecutor.
Three of the accused are already known to the courts. Still according to the prosecutor, the sister, 15 years old, was not present at the time of the events, but she was indicted for “voluntary failure to prevent a crime.”
The death, four days after another violent attack which targeted a schoolgirl in Montpellier, caused turmoil in the country.
