A teenage girl and her boyfriend have been arrested and charged after the savage murder of her mother in New York State during the holiday break.
Hannah Thomas, 17, and her boyfriend Richard Avila, 16, both live in Arizona. They visited the victim, Ottilia Piros, at the end of December.
The young lovers were arrested last week in Missouri for a traffic violation while driving the victim’s car.
Worried, the police wanted to contact the woman. It was the New York police who ultimately found the mother’s body.
Missouri officers seized a gun from the car, the one that was used to shoot the victim twice in the head.
The motive for the murder remains unknown as of yet, but it has been called execution by the New York City Police Chief. The facts would have occurred between Christmas and the New Year.
The teens will eventually be extradited to New York to face charges of second degree murder and possession of a weapon.
