Nowadays, many people are crazy about losing weight to cater to the concept of “thin is beautiful”. A 17-year-old girl in Mainland China suffered from anorexia and depression due to her crazy weight loss, which made her look different. Fortunately, she finally woke up and found herself.
Sunny, a 17-year-old girl from Mainland China, recently posted on “Little Red Book” to share her experience of overcoming eating disorders and depression over the past four years. In 2019, when she was only 13 years old, she suffered from anorexia due to weight loss. She was 160cm tall and weighed only about 59 pounds.
Because she was underweight, she was unable to live a normal life and experienced physical and psychological disorders, such as anxiety, depression, irritability, insomnia, hair loss, menopause, etc. In severe cases, she “didn’t even have the strength to walk or talk.” She said, “I am Like a man possessed, he doesn’t want to eat, and will force himself to walk on the treadmill for an hour just to eat one more bite of food.”
Sunny recalled that her life at that time was very morbid, and she was convinced that “I would rather die than get fat.” She started losing weight at about 119 pounds, skipping dinner, and managed to lose it to about 110 pounds in 3 months. After successfully losing weight, she was praised by many people at the time: “I really enjoy the expressions when people ask me if I have lost weight and how I lost weight.” But then she gradually became obsessed with it. She tried various weight loss methods, giving up carbohydrates and fats to speed up her weight loss. Although the unhealthy method made her lose weight very quickly, she lost about 22 pounds in the next two months, consuming less than 500 calories a day.
Although she had become so thin that she was no longer human-like, she was still very afraid of gaining weight and being criticized by the outside world. She described her “anorexia, vomiting, and crazy exercise” at that time as being like a drug addiction that was hard to give up.
After a year of anorexia, Sunny turned into binge eating. “After each binge eating, she would gain about 11 pounds in weight.” After binge eating, she used vomiting and exercise to compensate. She fell into a vicious cycle and was completely unable to live a normal life. She finally chose to seek medical treatment.
Sunny looked back on her three years of illness and realized that her “concept of beauty was abnormal” at that time. She later learned that “you can never satisfy everyone.” So she started by changing her living habits and gained weight from about 59 pounds to about 136 pounds. She admitted that she loves herself more now than before. Based on her own experience, she shared 5 keys to regaining health:
1. Properly plan your dietary intake proportions
2. Properly distribute nutrients and eat regularly
3. Moderate exercise
4. Eat less raw and cold food
5. Regular work and rest and healthy living habits
An American research team found that “sorbitol” is one of the culprits in causing farting. Eating more apples, pears and chewing gum can cause gastrointestinal problems.
The Daily Mail reported that the University of California-Davis pointed out that sorbitol is a natural plant sweetener mainly found in apples, apricots, pears, and dates. , avocado and other fruits, as well as sugar-free chewing gum, candies and pastries.
Because the body absorbs sorbitol slowly, consuming large amounts can cause gastrointestinal problems such as stomach pain, gas, and diarrhea. After undigested sorbitol passes through the small intestine and enters the colon, it will be broken down into fatty acids and gases by bacteria, leading to an increase in the frequency of farting.
Researchers used mice to conduct experiments and found that feeding mice a probiotic called “anaerostipes caccae” can help produce butyrate, which in turn causes the intestines to decompose sorbitol. Taobacterium returned to normal levels.
Food Intolerance Diagnostics, a Swiss-based gastroenterology organization, states that about 35% to 70% of adults experience gas and bloating after consuming more than 10 grams of sorbitol. Up to 70% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome will respond to small amounts of sorbitol.
