“Teenage Equestrian Dies After Tragic Competition Accident in Florida”

A teenage girl died Sunday after falling from her horse during an equestrian competition in Florida.

Hannah Serfass, 15, was riding Quaxx 2, her 12-year-old horse, when the latter tripped and fell spinning. The teenager was quickly taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead, the United States Equestrian Federation said in a statement.

«Hannah […] was a very talented young rising rider […] She was known for her passion for horses, her natural abilities and her work ethic,” added the organization.

In order to improve safety in equestrian sports, the incident will be investigated by the Federation.

“We send our deepest condolences to the family, coach, friends and the entire equestrian community. We are all heartbroken,” the Fox Lea Farm Equestrian Center, where the accident took place, posted on Facebook.
