Amidst the chaos and uncertainty that cancer brings, a young girl with an unwavering spirit and a heart of gold defied the odds and triumphantly beat the disease. It was a moment of hope and celebration that was sadly short-lived, as just one week later, she tragically lost her life. The story of this remarkable young woman serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life, and the incredible resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
18-year-old Molly Hinchliffe tragically passed away just one week after successfully kicking cancer. The UK native became ill with an infection due to her compromised immune system as a result of completing chemotherapy. She subsequently caught sepsis, which caused her organs to fail.
According to The Mirror, a friend of Hinchliffe’s described her as a “beautiful angel” with a “heart of gold.” The teenager, from Batley, West Yorkshire, passed away in the hospital, surrounded by her family.
Molly’s friend, Courtney Thompson, started a GoFundMe page seeking funding for her funeral, where she explained that Molly had just defeated cancer. “She finished her last round of chemo and has been poorly due to her immune system being low, she then caught sepsis and her organs gave up on her,” Thompson said. “We’re all absolutely heartbroken and hurting so much. She is such a beautiful angel. May she rest in paradise.”
Molly’s love of rugby was well-known, having picked up the sport from a young age. She was loved by her entire team at Dewsbury Moor and by her colleagues. Thompson spoke about her friend’s love for her family, particularly her siblings. Molly had a heart of gold but would not hesitate to call out a friend if they were out of line.
Courtney described her as a strong and funny girl with no filter, saying that everyone needs a Molly in their lives. She spoke of Molly’s boyfriend, whom she adored as much as he adored her. The pair were meant to be together, Thompson said.
Molly Hinchliffe’s death has left a deep impact on her friends and family. One friend described her as “the most caring and beautiful soul,” while another said that Dewsbury Moor had lost one of the “sweetest most caring girls that graced this earth.”
Her passing reminds us of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing each moment. Rest in peace, Molly.
