A boy was sent to hospital by air ambulance after a fall accident at a school in Sagvåg on Stord on Sunday night. Police are asking for tips after the accident.
The fall accident happened at Nysæter ungdomsskole at Stord Sunday night. The boy was a student at a high school in the area. There were several other boys present as well.
The boy is still hospitalized.
– The boy’s injuries were yesterday described as critical. We have not received any updates or adjustments to that, says investigation leader Roald Raunholm at Stord police station to VG.
The police were notified of the incident on Sunday night just before 20.30. The boy in his teens was first transported to Stord Hospital before he was flown to Haukeland University Hospital.
– The accident happened in connection with several young people entering the construction site. The injured are said to have fallen through Styrofoam sheets on the floor of the new building, and between four and five meters down to the floor below, says Raunholm.
Five boys present
The police are still working to map the course of events. During the day, the police will interrogate witnesses to get the details in place.
– We hope we know more when we have talked to the witnesses, says Raunholm.
A total of five boys of the same age were present, including the boy who fell.
– They are a group of friends who know each other. As far as we know, there were a total of five people present, says Raunholm.
Municipal manager Knut Gram in Stord municipality says that the crisis management has been gathered via Teams, and that they follow up the case further throughout the day.
– We follow up the boys who were with yesterday, and that is mainly what is our plan further today, Gram says.
