The event, which will be held from March 30 to April 2, is a long-time dream for the young girl, who signs her abstract art canvases under the name MEG.
“I am really happy!” exclaims the young painter.
She has been waiting for four years to participate in the famous event. “I was selected in 2019 and I was sure I was going to go, but because of the pandemic, it was postponed,” she explains.
Artexpo is one of the two biggest art events in New York, notes Mégane’s mother, Jessie Tremblay. As the city is a very important place in the art world, several renowned galleries and collectors will be present at the event.
This will be an opportunity for Mégane to sell her works so that they can shine internationally. “It’s the best place we should be right now,” says Jessie Tremblay.
The Artexpo in New York is not used to welcoming exhibitors of 15 years. “It is not written verbatim that it is 18 years and over, but that is what I understood by doing a little research, says his mother Jessie Tremblay. We’re in the big leagues.”
Being the youngest exhibitor does not intimidate Mégane. “In art, I’m used to being in an adult environment. It’s normal for me,” she said.
The artist is even excited at the idea of meeting several experienced painters. She hopes to gather advice and inspiration for the future.
A colorful collection
On the occasion of Artexpo, Mégane has created a brand new collection. “I found out in December, so I had to prepare a collection in two or three months, it was quite quick.”
The collection includes a dozen colorful canvases. “Everything is thought out,” says the young painter. I really worked by thinking a lot about the textures and the effect that it was going to be able to give with the colors.
Added value, 3D glasses will allow visitors to see the paintings with a whole new eye.
“It will add something really impressive, assures the artist. When you put on the glasses, the colors appear in the order of the rainbow, so red first, then orange and so on. It makes people see the works in 3D.”
MEG is one of the first artists in Canada to use this technology, which lends itself particularly well to its colorful works.
Even if Mégane’s career has the wind in her sails, the young girl does not aspire to make it her only livelihood. “I still want to continue painting, but really like my passion. I don’t want it to become an assembly line job,” she says.
Mégane’s new collection will be on sale on March 30 on its website, at the same time as the start of Artexpo in New York.
