NEW YORK — New York City Police responded to Kings Plaza in Brooklyn at noon Monday after receiving reports of a shooting at the mall.
The shooting appears to be an isolated incident that began after a dispute between several teenagers, senior police officials told our sister network News 4.
Two senior officials say the shooting happened inside the mall and the 16-year-old victim ran into a nearby store after sustaining a leg injury. It is expected to survive.
The person responsible for the shooting immediately fled the mall, but police sources said they eventually arrested several people. It is unknown if the alleged perpetrator is among the people the police detained.
Weapons have also been recovered.
This story is still developing.
