A seventeen-year-old boy received fourteen months of juvenile detention and youth TBS on Thursday for stabbing a fourteen-year-old boy in Hoorn. The victim died in hospital a few days later. The two argued over a clothing swap.
The victim wanted his pants back, but the suspect refused. On October 24 last year, there was a brawl between the two. Two days later, the suspect was waiting for the victim at the exit of his high school.
“After an exchange of words, the two boys got into a fight again. During the fight, the suspect stabbed the victim in the chest area with a knife,” the court said. The victim died in hospital from his injuries on October 30.
The court convicted the teen of manslaughter. “He took away the victim’s future on a whim with a knife stab.” It is called “extra bitter” that the reason was a simple clothing swap.
“The victim’s family is having a hard time processing the far too early loss of their loved one,” according to victim statements read out by the victim’s sister and mother during the hearing.
The suspect has an anxiety disorder and an intellectual disability. As a result, the manslaughter is attributed to him to a lesser extent.
