Tecno launches new portable gaming device Pocket Go | Technical portal

Chinese company Tecno has announced the launch of the Pocket Go gaming device via crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, a device that the company claims is the world’s first “portable gaming computer that runs on Windows 11 and supports augmented reality technologies. “

The Pocket Go gaming device is very different in its design from the traditional shape of other portable gaming devices, and it consists of a controller and augmented reality glasses called Pocket Vision.

Tecno had first unveiled the Pocket Go device at MWC 2024 last February, and then re-presented it at IFA 2024 last September, without revealing pricing or a release date.

The Pocket Go controller is based on the Windows 11 operating system, and works with an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor, Radeon 780M iGPU graphics processor, LPDDR5-6400 random access memory, and M.2 2230 storage memory (NVMe PCIe Gen4 ), as well as a battery with a capacity of 50 watts per hour with support for 65W charging.

The Pocket Go controller includes two USB Type-C ports, a MicroSD UHS-II card reader, along with two joysticks and a set of traditional buttons for game controllers such as the ABXY buttons with a design similar to Xbox devices.

On the other hand, the Pocket Vision augmented reality glasses that accompany the device provide a display resolution of 1080 pixels at a frequency of 60 Hz through the Micro OLED screens integrated in them. The glasses allow for immersive viewing up to 215 inches in size.

The glasses have two built-in speakers, a headphone port, a button to change view, and a USB Type-C port.

It is worth noting that the console can be connected to screens, computers, and televisions as a display unit to play without using the glasses connected to computers to enjoy a special gaming experience.

The Pocket Go is available with Pocket Vision glasses through Kickstarter platform Prices start at $870, and this version includes a storage capacity of 512 GB and 16 GB of RAM.

Another version with 32 GB of RAM and a terabyte storage capacity is available for $1,050. The Pocket Vision glasses alone can sell for $350.

It should be noted that Tecno plans to start shipping the device to customers at the end of this year, and will also start selling it outside the Kickstarter platform at higher prices next November.
