The implementation of technological systems and artificial intelligence in the development of their professional task, is a reality whose impact is studied in international forums, but which in Mexico presents a lag, analyzes Expert CETYS
For at least six years in different international forums of lawyers, the impact and scope of new technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, has been discussed in different branches of industry, services and, of course, in law.
In particular, the legal framework for the development of programs related to artificial intelligence, the code of ethics for the creation of artificial intelligence systems, the infrastructure requirements for the use of new technologies, changes in the labor market of industry and services –including legal ones- and training in the use of these technologies, to mention the main ones.
Nevertheless,
“In Mexico, the issue is hardly touched on in national forums when it is already a reality that every day will permeate legal life in the country more thoroughly,” said Dr. Juan Ilich Pérez García, professor at the CETYS University Law School. Mexicali Campus.
Although, he said, jurisdictional decisions or administrative resolutions have not yet been made through technological and / or artificial intelligence systems, a harmonization in International Law is looming with countries that are implementing them at a high level in their internal law processes. .
In the field of private initiative, technological tools have already been implemented for several years, in which saving time, money and efforts in repetitive tasks such as contract validation, electronic registration, filing, homologation with bank accounts of suppliers and customers, and the study of cases or jurisprudence by automated systems have been widely demonstrated.
“Thus, the academic programs of the Law career must, from now on, incorporate the study of said technological resources, since it is irrelevant to turn away from tools that, to this day, are being used more and more by large corporations and companies. law firms in their efficient operations ”, said the teacher.
This need is evident from the fact that different governmental bodies and international instances are also preparing for a migration of automation of administrative tasks and tasks, making it almost mandatory for future generations of lawyers to be updated with the knowledge that will make them capable of framing in the international and also corporate reality.
Adapting the study programs of the right to the use and awareness of systems, computer programs, artificial intelligence and all those relevant to the efficiency of the lawyer, are ways in which universities can begin to generate the transition of the professional profile that new generations they require, complementing their fundamental knowledge with tools that all future entrepreneurial lawyers will require in order to be competitive in the performance of their tasks.
“The context of technology is mandatory both in future law graduates and in general, in all university careers. Thus, regardless that in Mexico the implementation times are different in the public power, the private initiative already makes frequent use of such tools, so the lawyer must be prepared in the implementation of artificial intelligence and computer programs in their career if you want to consolidate as a professional of the future within the global sphere “, concluded the specialist.
