Technological Essentials and Accessibility Options in Spider-Man 2: Graphic Modes, HUD Customization, and More

We’re still just over two months away from the release of Insomniac Games’ anticipated second Spider-Man, which is the perfect time to learn the various technological essentials along with setting or accessibility. On the product page of the game on the PlayStation Store, new details appeared briefly, which mention the possibilities of facilitation during gameplay, as well as camera, HUD and audio settings, but there were also graphic modes, which were already mentioned insider The Snitch.

As we could read, for example, from Tom Henderson on Insider Gaming, who has already captured the missing information from the PS Store, Spider-Man 2 uses in terms of ease and accessibility some elements already included in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, but will also offer new options. As in the previous games, it will be possible to choose the automatic fulfillment of QTE sequences, assistance in targeting enemies in battle or in their pursuit, slight modification of the controls, replacing holding buttons with pressing, skipping puzzles or extending the time for dodging, and vibrations will also be helpful from time to time. In addition, there will also be a screen reader, more detailed subtitles and audio description, which we have already encountered in PlayStation games, in addition to this, the game will be able to be slowed down to 70%, 50% and 30% of the normal speed, with between these speeds you can switch immediately. In this case, it would not necessarily only be a matter of facilitation, but probably also an interesting visual element, which will certainly be used, for example, by enthusiasts for in-game digital photography.

Of course, the settings of the subtitles, including size, color and background, will also be possible, as well as the possibility to customize the HUD. In the sound settings, we will find the usual options for the type of volume of individual components, sound balance or settings according to the device used. Most players will be interested in the options in the graphics settings tab anyway. At least two graphics modes will be available for now, but it is possible that the options will be expanded – fidelity (fidelity mode) will offer 4K resolution at 30 fps with ray tracing and other effects, performance (performance mode) will boast 60 fps, but the 4K resolution will be upscaled and some improved special effects and ray tracing, which the fidelity mode will offer, will not be present. In addition to brightness or contrast, it will again be possible to set HDR, motion blur, chromatic aberration or film grain. For greater clarity, other contrast settings will also be present, which will highlight, for example, enemies, as well as the depiction of the spider’s sense.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released on October 20 on PlayStation 5 with Czech subtitles. You can find more about the game in our archive.
