Berlin The Techniker Krankenkasse warns of a drastic increase in the additional health insurance contribution for 2022. “2022 will be a tough year for funds and members. Without countermeasures by the state there is a risk of the additional contribution doubling “, said the head of the Techniker Krankenkasse, Jens Baas, of the “Rheinische Post” (Saturday).
Then the hole in the health fund “will be far greater than 16 billion euros and all reserves have been used up”. A financing gap of 16 billion euros in statutory health insurance is expected for 2021.
The chairman of the AOK Federal Association, Martin Litsch, made a similar statement a few days ago. “Without countermeasures, there is a threat of an increase in the average additional contribution from 1.3 percent to 2.5 percent,” Litsch told the “Augsburger Allgemeine”.
As early as 2021, the funds will increase the additional contributions, including the technician fund, said Baas. It remains to be seen whether this will take place in early or mid-2021. According to the plans of the Federal Ministry of Health, the average additional contribution for 2021 should increase by 0.2 points to 1.3 percent.
The health insurers then determine the specific amount of the additional contribution for their members themselves; they can deviate from the average.
