The Technical Vice Minister of the Ministry of Health, Norma Lucrecia Ramírez, was dismissed from her position, informed the Secretary of Social Communication of the Presidency, Patricia Letona.

Letona added that “he was removed as part of the renewal of cadres to streamline the acquisition and the vaccination plan, the measures to optimize the vaccination plan and achieve the acquisition of vaccines, are a priority of the State,” he emphasized.

Letona was also consulted about who would take that position, however, she indicated that “the profiles of possible candidates are still being evaluated.”

The dismissal occurs amid the uncertainty generated by the National Vaccine Plan, as well as the slow acquisition of doses and the inclusion of people in inoculation phases that do not correspond to the order established by the portfolio. Ramírez took office in July 2020.

So far, no new purchase of Covid-19 vaccines has been made from a pharmaceutical company and vaccinations with doses donated by Israel, India and part of those acquired with the Covax mechanism began in the country.

GIAMMATTEI WAS TARDY TO PASS THE LAW

In addition, to acquire the vaccine, the Congress of the Republic approved at the beginning of the year, as a national emergency, a law to purchase the doses and provide financial resources to the Ministry of Health, however, it was signed and sanctioned by the president , Alejandro Giammattei almost ten days after its approval, arguing that it had been “top down”.
