Technical Problems Cause Evacuation and Delays on Brussels to Amsterdam Train Route

“It concerns the Benelux train that runs from Brussels to Amsterdam,” says NMBS spokesman Dimitri Temmerman. “The train has been stopped since 7 p.m. tonight due to a technical problem.”

Attempts were initially made to resolve the issue and they seemed to succeed, but an additional technical problem surfaced. It was therefore decided to evacuate the travelers after all. “Our priority now is to get all travelers to their final destination as quickly and safely as possible,” said Temmerman.

Another train arrived around 11 p.m. Under the guidance of the emergency services, the stranded travelers were able to transfer to that train to continue their journey. The evacuation was completed just before midnight.
