– We are affected by a technical problem, and have introduced restrictions on traffic flow to maintain safety. Engineers are working to find and correct the error.
This is what an unnamed spokesperson for the British air traffic company Nats says in a statement on Monday afternoon.
The company has not stated what kind of error it is, how extensive it is or how long it may take to correct it.
The Scottish airline Loganair states on X/Twitter that there is a problem with the entire network, which should have persisted since Monday morning.
– We hope to be able to operate most domestic flights in Scotland with local coordination and with a minimum of disruption, while north-south flights and international flights are more prone to delays, writes the airline.
Sky News states to have been contacted by several travelers from abroad who are said to have been informed of delays on their flights to the UK.
The airports in Dublin and Cork report several delays, while Gatwick airport in London states that flights there are taking off and landing as normal.
British Airways said in a statement that it was “working closely with Nats to assess the extent of the technical fault affecting British airspace and will keep customers up to date with the latest information”.
