“Technical Incident Halts Marseille Metro: Relay Buses in Place to Replace Lines”

Relay buses have been put in place to replace the lines affected. The RTM announced that traffic would not resume for the day.

“Currently, the service of your line is completely interrupted”, can we read on the site of the RTM. This Tuesday, since midday, the two metro lines M1 and M2 of the Marseille city have been stopped following a “technical incident”.

As of 7:30 p.m., traffic has still not been restored. Contacted by BFM Marseille Provence, the RTM indicates that the incident is indeed purely technical since it concerns “a traction problem”. However, it is larger than expected.

A relay bus service, made up of 40 vehicles, has been set up to replace the two metro lines. Four additional trains were also deployed in emergency on the T2 and T3 trams.

If the RTM hoped for a restoration of the situation “in the evening”, the management announced shortly before 8 p.m. that traffic will be interrupted “until the end of service”.
