Digital Foundry specialist Thomas Morgan rolled out technical analysis Mortal Kombat 1 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch consoles. The expert praised the versions of the fighting game for “big consoles” and heavily criticized the version for Switch.
Morgan advised avoiding Mortal Kombat 1 on Switch – at least until significant fixes (if any are possible).
On Switch the game takes up 35 GB versus 114 GB on older consoles – all game mechanics and activities are identical

The frame rate can drop to 4 FPS at the moment of character selection – then the level loads for another 40 seconds (6 seconds on older consoles)
In the docking station 576p-756p (dynamic scaling), portable – 720p with drops to 396p
Every aspect of the graphics Mortal Kombat 1 on Switch it is either greatly reduced or absent altogether – in some places there are no facial animations, brakes and flickering are noticeable during cutscenes
Dance performance from 10 to 30 FPS with 200 ms frame time – if cameo fighters appear on the screen, then FPS becomes even more unstable
PS5/Series X – dynamic 2160p-1800p, overall picture quality is identical
Series S – dynamic 1440p-1080p, slightly lower quality textures and shadows
On older consoles the ideal 60 FPS, but 30 FPS during cutscenes, fatalities and other things
Earlier, the head of NetherRealm Studios Ed Boon promised to fix the version Mortal Kombat 1 for Nintendo Switch. Despite technical problems, the version sells for $70.
