Techland has unveiled a new image of its next franchise after Dying Light, and some additional information on the direction of this unreleased AAA game.
Dying Light 2 is still far from over, but at the same time, Techland is preparing the sequel with a big fantasy game that gives its news.
Dying Light 2 seeks to make amends
Unfortunately, Dying Light 2 : Stay Human did not keep its promises. Far from being essential, the game was disappointing on several points, but should improve over time. It recently received a huge 1.09 update which significantly improves the title graphically and technically, on consoles and PC, and adds new features.
Players will for example be confronted with new enemies, more aggressive biters and will be hunted down by Raptors in dark areas. The spawn rate of Special Infected has also been increased. It is therefore encouraging, especially since in the coming months, it will continue.
In April, Dying Light 2’s combat physics and violence will be overhauled; in June, the parkour will be more fluid and there will be new night experiences and new Wandering Raptors; Finally, by the end of the year, it will be the release of a new expansion of the story with an additional location and weapons. A follow-up of 5 years which should be respected given the liabilities of the studio, but Techland is also busy on its future license.
A never-before-seen image and info from the new Techland game
In addition to developing updates and content for Dying Light 2, Techland is looking to the future. And that future will be driven by a big fantasy game with The Witcher 3 veterans at the helm. Karolina Stachyra, who contributed quests and dialogue to TW3 and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, will be working with Bartosz Ochman, who was the open world architect for CD Projekt. Other talents from Arkane (Deathloop, Dishonored…), Guerrilla Games (Horizon Forbidden West), Warner Bros. or Ubisoft have also embarked on this new adventure.
This completely new franchise, which does not yet have an official name, has received a second concept art where the character plays Tarzan. We radically change the landscape compared to Dying Light and its urban environment. All the know-how of the studio, in terms of gameplay, should be visible in this production.
Our new game will be a fantasy narrative adventure in an exotic open world ready to be explored. We strive to create an engaging story-driven AAA title that combines and refines the best aspects of the gameplay that Techland is known for.

Given the lack of information, Techland has obviously not yet provided an exit window for this future IP.
