Techland continues to work hard on creating new content and updating Dying Light 2 for those who are still jumping and gliding across Villedor. Earlier this year, Techland announced a roadmap of updates that will roll out throughout 2023 that will include many exciting additions and new story content. The next update promises to give players a new nighttime experience, increasing the intensity for those who set foot in the city at night.
Wandering around the city at night was already pretty creepy, but Dying Light 2 director Tymon Smektala is confident that the new experience will make it “even scarier” for players. Speaking about the horror genre, Smektala explained that Techland plans to “get the best out of the game” and use new “gameplay mechanics, visual tricks and sound effects” to make players “shit in their pants”. This is a rather promising sign for all those who felt that moving through the streets in the dark was not stressful enough.
Horror has become a huge part of Dying Light’s DNA, so we will continue to support it in the game. Our next update, scheduled for early summer, is dedicated to just that – we are enhancing the nighttime experience, making it even scarier. We hope to create a tense atmosphere that will make our players shit in their pants. We plan to use all the possibilities – gameplay mechanics, visual tricks, soundtrack. Get ready!
It’s not exactly a subtle way of saying that the new nighttime experience will be scarier, but if you want some delicacy from Dying Light, then you’ve probably come to the wrong place. However, this statement exudes confidence, and it looks like Techland has a lot of new and interesting tactics up its sleeve to give a good scare to those who dare to explore at night.
As for when we get new story content, Techland recently promised that the second big DLC expansion for Dying Light 2 will be released before the end of the year, and also stated that it will take players to a whole new location and “will be like nothing else” what you’ve seen in the Dying Light series so far.” The developer also claims that it will be bigger, much more story-driven, and will answer some of the longstanding questions that have been swirling around the Dying Light community for a long time. These are pretty big promises, but Techland is more than confident they can deliver.
