The University of Limerick’s Prof Tiziana Margaria is set to lead a research project that will receive €5.87m in funding. Partnering with Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) are companies such as Analog Devices, Stripe, Tines, and Johnson & Johnson who will match the €2.3m funding provided by SFI. Limerick City and County Council will also contribute to the funding. The initiative will be spearheaded by Prof Margaria, who is the chair of software systems and co-director of immersive software engineering at UL. The goal of the research is to create an advanced software development and integration platform designed by 22 PhD students and 4 postdoctoral fellows, along with industry partners, to combat the current shortage of software developers. The low-code and no-code approach will allow developers and non-developers to design, develop, verify and deploy applications faster and with minimalistic coding requirements.
