FC Barcelona could sign stars like Robert Lewandowski or Bernardo Silva, to name just a few. However, as LaLiga boss Javier Tebas has now admitted, Barça would have to get fresh capital in a timely manner.
At an extraordinary meeting last Thursday, the members of FC Barcelona approved the club’s two “financial levers” – two measures to generate millions of euros in revenue. The Catalans are hoping for up to 600 million euros as a result. Money that could be invested in new entrants.
“If Barça manages to move the levers, they can sign (Robert) Lewandowski, Bernardo Silva and some others,” Tebas announced to Spanish press representatives on Thursday. Review: In May, Tebas explained that the Blaugrana stars like Lewandowski could not afford or register to play due to their financial difficulties.

FC Barcelona wants to operate its two “levers” by June 30th
However, because FC Barcelona members voted to sell club institutions, the basis is in place to make transfers – provided the sales are made by June 30 (Barça’s balance sheet date). The first “leverage” is the sale of 49.9 percent of the shares in Barça Licensing and Merchandising, from which it is hoped to generate income of between 200 and 300 million euros.
In addition, it is about the sale of television rights. FC Barcelona has spoken out against La Liga’s CVC deal (eight percent of the TV rights over 50 years for €270 million) and instead plans to market its TV rights itself in order to get a much better offer.
With deals in the millions: Barça’s salary cap would be raised
According to media reports, Barça has a more lucrative offer: there is talk of selling ten percent of the rights for a maximum of 25 years. FC Barcelona hopes to even earn up to 500 million euros for it in the best case – a sum between 300 and 400 million euros is more likely. The investment company Goldman Sachs, with which Barça often enters into deals, is considered an interested party. The club hopes to go through both deals up to 600 million euros in revenueagain FC Barcelona itself writes in the press release. Catalan media even estimate the possible income at up to 700 million euros.
So Tebas’ latest statement makes sense: With this enormous income, Barça’s strict salary cap imposed by La Liga would be raised for the new season, so that the runner-up of the past season could sign or register players again without any worries. This would leave the door open for Lewandowski, Bernardo Silva, Jules Koundé and other stars – provided that agreements are reached with the respective clubs.
