The dancer Jayaprabha Menon and his company will offer a mix of mohiniyattam dance (performed by ten artists) and kalaripayattu martial art (performed by four dancers) in a unique show that explores the similarities and contrasts of these two important art forms of the region of Kerala.
the story it tells Shakti is that of one Nari (a beautiful maiden), representing the lasya or feminine grace of mohiniyattam, ea Veera (warrior), who is embodied in the masculinity of the kalaripayattu.
The mohiniyattam, literally translated as the dance of the sorceress, commemorates the coming of the god Visnu in the way of Mohini, a beautiful and seductive woman whose mission was to charm the Asuras (demons). The main theme of this dance is love and devotion to God, and she will use her feminine gifts to make good prevail over evil.
As for kalaripayattu, it is considered one of the oldest martial arts in the world, it focuses not only on cultivating endurance and physical strength, but also on increasing mental well-being and energy to opt for a peaceful lifestyle. and calm.
