Frida by Rubén Amavizca-Murúa not only pays tribute to Frida Kahlo’s incredible paintings, but also to the masterpiece that was her own survival. After suffering a terrible accident during her youth, she clung on to life with strength and tenacity; defusing death and coping with immeasurable pain. A woman ahead of her time, we see “Frida” a woman who refuses to follow the norm and chooses to create her own destiny. And, despite sustaining a very frustrating roller coaster of a relationship with the Mexican muralist, Diego Rivera, she responded with love and passion.
