After a series of more or less planned delays, developers from the Dutch Blue Box Game studio announced at the end of last week promised teaser for the game Abandoned. However, the fan reception was catastrophic from the point of view of the title’s authors for reasons that were vehemently discussed before the special application on the PS5 was released immediately after. In the end, the developers showed only a few seconds of a man walking on the wooden floor. So the exact same video that was available on Twitter for several days at the time. The confidence in the whole project, the studio and the designer Hasan Kahraman, who decided to comment on the whole matter after the weekend’s silence, suffered as a result. In an interview with a magazine NME – which is not exactly one of the most typical sources of game news – spoke not only about the delay at the last minute, but also about the game itself and the fact that people have absolutely no idea what Blue Box Game Studios is up to.
Let’s start by postponing the patch of the mentioned application, which the perseverers have been waiting for without a break for several days. “It all started with a problem with the engine, because of which we had to postpone the patch. In addition, we were unable to resolve the issue, ”explains Hasan Kahraman. But they weren’t alone when they had literally several other teams working with them and trying to fix the bugs from Unreal Engine 5, on which Abandoned will run. At this point, however, the head of the studio is a bit contradictory, when in the past he mentioned the help of others, but did not hesitate to change his attitude and at a time when it “fit”, he tried to point out that his studio is small, does not have such possibilities as others and relies only on itself. The question would also arise as to why Blue Box uses UE5 when, according to Kahrman, it is still in the “preliminary approach”, but the answer should be the functions that a small Dutch studio needs for its game and another engine cannot.

It is not yet known from the walk on the wooden floor, but Hasan Kahraman does not evaluate the demonstration itself well and confirms that it was originally supposed to be longer. “We had to cut a part of the teaser and I knew it wasn’t a good idea to use the same thing we already had on Twitter. It was only a few seconds and it won’t tell you anything, “he told the NME newsroom. “But we had to do it because people wanted the patch, didn’t we? That was our priority – just release the patch and release more content later, “adds Kahraman. And according to another statement, he did not learn much from the previous mistakes related to marketing, according to another statement. Next in line is the movie trailer according to the windows in the application, and we are said to be receiving it already really, but really soon. “We originally wanted to release it on Gamescom, but we will see if we can make it. Gamescom is, in how long, in a week, “Kahraman asks, and his words certainly do not mean that he has a clearer plan in his head.
However, he admits that they really do not want to make the same mistake a second time, so they will not announce any date, but the trailer will appear soon. What’s more, shortly after its release, players are said to be given the opportunity to play the game for the first time themselves, but even here Kahraman does not want to promise anything. “One thing I’ve learned is not to announce something too soon so you don’t make it too complicated yourself,” says the head of the Blue Box Game studio after announcing that the trailer and playable demo will arrive soon. both playable examples are supposed to serve to relax the whole situation and to understand what Abandoned really is.
What is not, Kahraman clearly defines – it should not be any Silent Hill or Metal Gear. In addition, the NME editorial office adds that they received exclusive information from Kahraman about the story and concept of the game, only promising not to reveal it to anyone. It was also explained that the man with the blindfold, who was blurred under one of the graphic teasers, was of course not Snake, but the main downside of the game, and that it was certainly not a model that developers would buy from an asset store. However, Kahraman admitted that using it under the circumstances and the mood that prevailed among the players was a mistake, but it can not be taken back.
However, he melted over the supposed features of the game, which should be completely different from what the players imagine. In fact, it will not be a horror movie, but a tactical survival action that was originally supposed to be set in open space. But the developers changed that, allegedly because of the great graphics that made the original concept a linear story game. So the exact opposite of open-world in its basic sense, if I’m not mistaken… Everything still sounds quite strange, as well as notes on behalf of individual members of a small team, who are mostly freelancers and definitely do not want to show their face in the current situation. According to Kahraman – himself allegedly deeply depressed without an appetite – no one wants to be associated with the fact that someone is constantly slandering him for possible fraud. “This is really big and it hurts a lot.
