The well-known iFixit has posted a teardown video of the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Ultra. The teardown shows how the manufacturer has integrated the S Pen stylus into the case. The new vapor chamber is also shown, which should cool things during use. The most interesting discovery, however, concerns the location of the vibrator motor.
This is in fact built into the bottom speaker, instead of the top one. According to speculation, Samsung would Taptic Engine of the iPhone, so a location at the bottom would make more sense. The Taptic Engine provides tactile feedback from the buttons and the touchpad and has been in iPhones, iPads, the Watch and MacBooks since 2015. According to some, a vibrating motor at the bottom gives a clearly less noticeable vibration while the smartphone is in your pocket.
Especially the fragile back and difficult-to-remove glue make repairing the new flagship difficult. In addition, only a combination of isopropyl alcohol (solvent), a suction cup and a lot of patience allows the battery to be removed. At the end of the video, iFixit gives the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22 Ultra a repairability score of 3 out of 10 – the same as the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but one point less than the S21.
