For his team-mate Ruben Neves, superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is in fine form just days ahead of Portugal’s opener against Ghana on Thursday at the World Cup in Qatar.
“From what I’ve seen in training, he’s in spectacular form,” the midfielder said on Sunday. Neither Ronaldo’s manageable playing time at Manchester United nor his inspiring interview are a problem for the 2016 European champion.
Ronaldo, who missed Thursday’s friendly against Nigeria with a stomach problem, will return with morale to train with his team-mates on Sunday.
“We’re not worried about him at all, as a team we know exactly what we need to work on so that everyone can shine on match day,” said Neves, a legionnaire at English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers. “If we’re good as a team, Cristiano will be phenomenal.”
