Team17 Announces Major Restructuring, Potential Layoffs in QA Department

Sources of the British Eurogamer corroborated by the media VG247 They point out that Team17 (developer of Worms, publisher of Blasphemous 2 and Dredge) has announced a major restructuring this morning.

The information has reached employees through an emergency meeting this morning. A consulting process has begun that will end in November, so for the moment there has been no immediate layoff.

This operation would especially affect QA (quality control), where the majority of employees in this sector could lose their jobs.

Approximately 50 affected jobs are part of a QA arm, particularly junior analysts, with the aim of outsourcing these services rather than performing them in-house.

It is not clear whether other departments have been affected by these restructuring plans, but VG247 points to layoffs of between 20 and 30% of the marketing workforce.

These same sources suggest that Michael Pattinson, CEO of the Team17 Digital branch, plans to leave his position.

Team17 made a series of layoffs in March of this year within the internal game development arm, although other employees were told at the time that no further layoffs were planned.

In recent days there have been news of layoffs in different companies in the sector, including Epic Games (16% of the workforce, about 830 employees) and Creative Assembly.
