Team USA triumphs at the 2024 Solheim Cup. The Europeans were unable to get close enough in the singles. For the Americans, it is the first title since 2017…
Before the singles on Sunday, everything looked like a clear win for Team USA at the 2024 Solheim Cup. The Americans were leading by 10 points to 6. But the Europeans were able to catch up again with a strong comeback.
In the end, it was Lilia Vu who would end Team Europe’s dreams of a fourth consecutive title. Vu was two points behind Albane Valenzuela with two holes to go. But she managed two birdies at the end to score the decisive half point for her team.

Team USA triumphed at the 2024 Solheim Cup with 15.5 to 12.5 points. “I can’t even put it into words,” said Vu after her decisive half point. “I felt like I hadn’t done my part this week and I wanted to change that.”

On holes 17 and 18, she found herself in a state of emotional chaos. “I told my caddie that I felt like I hadn’t given anything to my team. Somehow I managed to score two more birdies, I’m so happy right now.”
Megan Khang (6&5 against Emily Pedersen), Allisen Corpuz (4&3 against Anna Nordqvist) and Rose Zhang (6&4 against Carlota Ciganda) had already secured three points for Team USA. Jennifer Kupcho also scored a point for the Americans in the last flight.

In addition to Lilia Vu’s half point, Andrea Lee’s and Lauren Coughlin’s points proved to be decisive. Lee had fought for half a point against the German Esther Henseleit.
Lauren Coughlin was also thrilled about her triumph at the 2024 Solheim Cup. “I fought so hard and just didn’t want to lose. I never give up. As long as I’m not sure I’ve lost, I always try everything.”
Team USA triumphs for the first time since 2017
For Megan Khang, the 2024 Solheim Cup was particularly successful, as she remained undefeated for the second consecutive edition. “The atmosphere was just electric,” she said of the week at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. “I really enjoyed getting the crowd involved. I would do it again a million times.”

After losing three Solheim Cups in a row, Team USA was able to secure a title for the first time since 2017. The Europeans could have won four titles in a row for the first time in the history of the continental competition.
While Team USA triumphed at the 2024 Solheim Cup, Esther Henseleit’s team suffered a defeat. She had secured her place at the Solheim Cup with a silver medal at the Olympic Games, among other things, and showed a courageous performance.

Alongside Charley Hull, Henseleit won one match and lost one on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, she was able to fight back after falling behind. Winning four holes in a row even meant that the German suddenly found herself in the lead.
Andrea Lee, however, did not let herself be shaken off and equalized again on hole 16. Neither of them managed more than pars on holes 17 and 18 and thus shared the match. Esther Henseleit shone with a long holed putt on hole 18.
In the entire history of the Solheim Cup, the USA now leads with eleven wins, compared to seven losses – last year they tied once. The next Solheim Cup will be held in 2026 at Bernardus in the Netherlands.
