At the end of August, the United States will begin the second phase of qualifying for the 2023 World Cup. For this, USA Basketball has unveiled a squad of twelve players.
A half was already present in July, for the victories against Cuba and Puerto Rico. They are Michael Frazier II, Langston Galloway, David Stockton, DaQuan Jeffries, John Jenkins and Eric Mika.
The other part is new since we no longer find Jordan Bell or Quinn Cook (who has just signed up with the Kings) for example. The six new ones are: Tyler Cavanaugh, Malik Ellison, Dewan Hernandez, Mac McClung, Robert Woodard II and McKinley Wright IV.
Team USA have won five out of six matches in the first round and the Americans’ next two games are scheduled against Uruguay on August 25 and then Colombia four days later.
Two successes and Jim Boylen’s troops could then validate their ticket for the 2023 World Cup from the next qualifying window, in November.
