Team RICOCHET Introduces Splat Feature to Embarrass Cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone

The team behind Call of Duty’s anti-cheat system RICOCHET has added a new feature to embarrass cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone. If they jump out of the plane, their parachutes can disengage at any time.

The function, which is appropriately named Splat, was added by Team RICOCHET so that other players can ‘immediately notice’ who is trying to cheat. Previously, cheaters were dealt with behind closed doors, either keeping them in the game to collect data or simply making them disappear. In the past, the system has also activated ‘God Mode’ for other players or provided them with a shield that blocks the cheaters’ bullets.

The developers say this new tool is simply “more fun.” If the system detects that someone is not getting his kills in an honest way, the parachute can ‘simply’ be turned off after jumping from the plane. Does the system find out that a player has messed up after he jumps? Then he can end up in an accelerated free fall of thousands of meters, which the character does not survive.

Splat will not be randomly enabled for a player who has not been verified as cheating, even after a report from another player, Team RICOCHET emphasizes. “This is one of many new tricks we’ve developed – and we’ll talk about more in the future.”
