The Lipper had to accept their first defeat in the relegation on Thursday. At HaSpo Bayreuth, Team HandbALL lost 30:37. Nevertheless, Matthias Struck’s team has everything under control. With three wins in the remaining three games, the relegation would end in first place and remain in the 3rd league. Despite the loud support of 14 fans who had traveled with us, it was not possible to kidnap anything countable from Franconia.
“Congratulations to Bayreuth on the win, I think that was totally deserved,” said Matthias Struck after the game on the holiday. “But it was a very close game most of the time. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to take control of the game. We always had situations in attack that were a bit unfortunate and with a little more luck would certainly have found their way into the goal,” Struck continued. “That’s how we keep falling behind. But we always manage to equalize”, the guests fought their way to Bayreuth several times from a deficit of four goals.
The second half started with a 14:18 mortgage for Team HandbALL. “Even when we beat six in the second half, we always find good solutions and we equalize again.” Niko Blaauw scored the 22:22 in the 43rd minute. “Unfortunately, with a bit of luck, we won’t be able to stay in the game and take the lead in the next phase. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out today,” concluded the coach from Team HandbALL.
It continues on Sunday, when the boys from Lipperland travel to Schwetzingen to play against HG Oftersheim/Schwetzingen. “A very difficult task awaits us there, too. The HG was in the lead for the most part in the first leg and showed a very good performance in the wineo ARENA”, but in the end the Lippers were able to win with 31:30.
