After the team of the German Canoe Association at the IVF Long Distance World Championships 2019 in Va’a grew to 14 German participants in the year before last (the championships 2020 and 2021 were due to Corona) (results and medal table at http: //www.ivfiv .org / 2019-australia — distance.html) an attempt is now being made to set up a team again for the upcoming IVF (International Va’a Fédération) world championships.
At these Sprint World Championships, which will be held in London / Great Britain from 04. to -17. August 2022 (provisional date), athletes in the following age groups can start
- Juniors 16 years
- Juniors 19 years
- Open class
- Master 40 years
- Master 50 years
- Master 60 years
- Master 70 years
Here Germany has 3 starting places each, which can be filled.
The race distances are
- 500 Meter,
- 1000 meters and
- 1.500m
and are in the following 3 boat categories
- One (V1),
- Six (V6) and
- Zwölfer (V12) gepaddelt.
The V12 consists of two interconnected V6 hulls, which as a catamaran places extreme demands on the coordination of both sides as well as the helmsmen. Because the two longer distances are not driven straight out, as is known from canoe racing, but have to tackle a turn after 500 meters.
In addition, there are also races for para canoeists, which are then started here over a distance of 250 meters.

The speaker, who is also the German IVF representative, then collects all the reports received, requests the necessary information from each athlete and also carries out the final report at a later point in time.
If there are more entries than there are starting places available, there will be a qualification regatta.
At the moment there is already a larger group of interested parties, so the probability of competing in the V6 in the various age groups is quite high.
After September 10, 2021, the aim is to organize a meeting of all interested parties living in Germany and to carry out joint training units.
