It took a huge turnaround for “Team Europe” to finally overthrow “Team World”. But there was no suspense in Vancouver for the last day of the sixth edition of the Laver Cup this Sunday, an XXL exhibition designed by Roger Federer. Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe brought the last points their team needed by winning the opening doubles this Sunday against Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz (7-6 [4]7-6 [5]).
The trophy goes to the first team to reach thirteen points. The world team led 10-2 before this last day and by winning this doubles, the American pair brought back the last three missing points to their team (at the Laver Cup, matches are worth more and more points, one point per victory on Friday, two on Saturday and three on Sunday). This is the second trophy in a row for “Team World” which had already won last year. “Team Europe” had won the first four editions.
