Team Edin ready for World Cup final – beat Switzerland in the semis

The victory was founded with the last stone in the fifth round of play. The match had so far been even, but skipper Niklas Edin changed that.

Sweden had four stones in the nest, but Switzerland had two, one of which was closest to the center. Edin managed to knock off both red opponent stones and at the same time keep his in the nest and five Swedish points fell in.

The blue and yellow quartet managed to steal a new point in the round after and when they stole another three points in the eighth round of play, the match was over. The team now has a chance at its third straight World Cup gold.

The semifinals were supposed to have been played on Sunday night but were postponed after participants tested positive for covid-19.

-We usually like to gather and have time for ourselves, now it was almost too much time, there was a lot of waiting, says Edin.

In the final, Sweden will face Scotland, who defeated the Russian Curling Federation’s team by 5–3.

Sweden won the World Cup’s basic series while Scotland finished fifth and was also forced to a playoff match against the home nation Canada to reach the semifinals. In the basic round, Sweden defeated Scotland 6-5.

The final starts at 05 on Monday morning, Swedish time.
