Teal. Jewish community worried about threatening man outside synagogue, suspect indicted

A thirty-something, visibly drunk, was overpowered by passers-by before being arrested by the police. Monday, March 29, the suspect was taken into custody after an attempted attack with a knife in Sarcelles (Val-d’Oise), reports The Parisian.

He is suspected of having threatened three young men who were leaving the synagogue on this last day of Passover, the Jewish Passover holidays, tell our colleagues.

The anti-Semitic character was not retained

The victims, aged in their twenties, managed to escape after being warned by a neighbor. The suspect is said to be a homeless man of Pakistani origin. He was subsequently indicted for “threat with a weapon” by the examining magistrate before being left free under judicial control, the daily announces.

The Pontoise Public Prosecutor’s Office did not retain an anti-Semitic nature in this alleged aggression, specifies the Ile-de-France newspaper. However, several members of the Jewish community are concerned. Moïse Kalhoun, who heads the community of Sarcelles, said the 30-something had already been seen near the Synagogue. The investigation is continuing.
