Teachers of Staps (sciences and techniques of physical and sporting activities) at Nantes University are lifting their protest movement. To denounce the unequal treatment with their teacher-researcher colleagues, secondary school teachers assigned to higher education no longer carried out their administrative missions.
The Minister of Higher Education, Sylvie Retailleau, announced on Thursday September 8 that they would benefit from an increase in bonuses. “A positive signal”estimate the teachers and teacher-researchers of the Staps Training and Research Unit, gathered in a general assembly, this Friday, September 8. “However, these announcements remain both imprecise and unsatisfactory,” they say. They claim “the revaluation of the amount of the higher education bonus to recognize all the tasks and missions carried out by secondary school teachers assigned to higher education and the acceleration of the revaluation timetable”. And also ask for the financing arrangements for the various announcements. But the general assembly also voted for the resumption of their missions. Students will therefore have classes from this Monday, September 11.
On the other hand, the Department of Business and Administration Management at the IUT of Nantes will be closed this same Monday. No reception of students, no administrative mission will be provided. Staff are also mobilizing against the implementation of the compensation scheme for teachers and researchers. In a press release they denounce “a manifest inequity between teacher-researchers and other higher education teachers”.
