Teachers from Nuevo León attend a course from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN)

Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.- The Government of Nuevo León, through the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the ITESM PrepaTec, awarded scholarships to teaching staff who attended an intensive refresher course on physics pedagogy, taught by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) based in Geneva, Switzerland.

The participating teachers were Nalley Treviño and Ángel Lara from CONALEPNL; Ovidio Flores from Telebachillerato Comunitario; Sandra Cantú from CECYTENL; and Tania Guerrero from the Roberto Rocca Technical School, who will share their knowledge with the teaching staff of Upper Secondary and Higher Education.

The course took place from 21 to 26 July 2024 at the CERN Laboratory in Switzerland and aimed to introduce participants to cutting-edge particle physics through visits to experimental facilities, practical workshops and lectures given by world-class physicists such as Francisco Barradas Solas, Xavier Espinal and Jeff Wiener.

This effort is part of the continuous training actions in STEM areas promoted by the Ministry of Education, which significantly benefit students from all high school subsystems in the state, including the next generations of physicists, engineers and computer scientists.

During the next semester, the scholarship recipients will conduct workshops and training sessions to share what they have learned with the entire teaching staff of public secondary and higher education in Nuevo León.
